February Month in Review
February was a really rough month for me in all kind of aspects. Unfortunately, I didn’t get much closer to any of my goals and new year’s resolutions, even though I had some chances and opportunities on multiple occassions. The lesson I’ve got to learn from this is to capitalize on changes when they come up, so I can build on those successes for even greater success. If I don’t, then I end up in the same position I was before or worse. I can blame outside forces on not getting much done, but I still feel I had the time, energy, and opportunity to move forward with my goals. Instead, I think I’m a little bit worse now than this time last month. The good thing is that the year is not over. I’m starting fresh. I know what my goals are and how to accomplish them. I just to keep making thos steps towards the endgame.
Money
I’m in a worse place in my short-term finances (i.e. I don’t have any money right now), but I think I’m getting my long-term path on the right track. I was able to do a couple of things in February to continue my debt progress. I’m really getting into the idea of snowflaking away debt, and I’ve decided on my first real target. I’ve started making small amounts of money outside of my normal job, and I’ve started looking for ways to make bigger amounts of money outside of my 9to5.
My biggest problem this month was attempting to come up with a budget and stay with in the budget. I wasn’t even close to accomplishing this feat. I know the next couple of months, I really have to work on this aspect and figure out my system. I was able to track practically every penny I spent for most of the month, so I can hopefully use that as a nice little springboard to what I need to budget. I think I’m also figuring out a couple of areas where I can immediately save a nice chunk of change.
My goal going forward is to take steps to create a realistic budget and stay within it and start snowflaking payments towards my targets so I can get that behind me.
Fitness
I haven’t written much about Fitness, or Self-Improvement in general, very much, and I think that is a concern that it is not on my mind as much as it should be. My eating definitely went down hill this month, even though I did pick up my exercise. I haven’t been able to keep up with my weight because of the volitality of living situation, but I think I’m okay there.
Going forward, I definitely have to do something about my diet. My workouts, I can just keep them up, and try to write down a little more of what I do. The real source of concentration needs to be my food intake and realizing that a little bit of sacrifice right now will go a long way into the future. I think the best thing for me to do is to actually get a couple of posts up here about my plan to help my diet. That way, I can start thinking about what the best thing for me to do will be.
All in all, February was not a good month, but I’m not down for the count. I can still right the ship with just a little extra effort this month, and that’s what I aim to do. Today, I’m going to take the first step!
