Review - Joe’s Goals

This just happens to be a site I use every day, I’m not being compensated or anything for this review.

On the right side of the blog, you will see my Joe’s Goals badge. This is a real-time updated look at how I’m doing with all the goals I’m keeping track of at the moment over at Joe’s Goals.com. The badge is one of the many awesome features for a site that I use every single day. Basically, the site lets you track whatever you want on a day-to-day basis. The badge to the right is a summary of all the things I’m tracking, and how well I’m doing every day.

There are three basic ways to track something on Joe’s Goals. First, you can have a simple check if you did something positive. For example, I use this to track every day that I get some exercise in. After exercising a particular day, I can go to Joe’s Goals and check that I exercised, which is very simple, just one click. Joe’s Goals keeps track of what days I clicked that I got my exercise, how many days I have exercised, and how many straight days I have exercised. You can also keep track of things you do not want to do in the same manner as a negative tracker. For example, Eating out might be something you are trying to avoid, so you can check it everytime you do eat out. This becomes the exact opposite of the positive tracker, and Joe’s Goals tells you how many straight days you have not fallen to temptation and gone out to eat. The final tracking method is the logs you can create. The logs are simple boxes that you can type whatever you want in them. I use these logs for several things. One, I put track my weight in one box, and put my morning weight in the log everyday. I also use these logs to track my exercise, so I’ll put in what I actually did for my exercise and it will appear with the positive checkmarks I mentioned above. Other features are available as well, including tracking items only on certain days of the week.

I found Joe’s Goals via lifehacker.com during a discussion on “Seinfeldian” calendars, and Joe’s Goals was one of the websites mentioned. I intend to write a little more about the “Seinfeldian” calendar theory, because I really like the idea of it and the motivation it can bring. I tried Joe’s Goals because it was free and it looked pretty cool. It did not take very long to get me hooked on it though. You can run reports, create badges to publish elsewhere (Myspace, Facebook, etc…), and all sorts of things. So I really think everyone should try it out, or at least check it out. I think it is definitely worth your time.

So Check it out, and…
Keep Steppin’
