What to snowflake first? - SnowFlake Step #2
I’m having some trouble deciding what exactly should be my first snowflaking target. I have two specific targets that I need to attack, and I can sort of argue for both to be the first goal. First, there is the emergency fund. According to Dave Ramsey in the Total Money Makeover, I should start with the emergency fund before hitting my debt to keep myself from getting into further debt and staying in the debt cycle. My other need is a couple of debts that I need to pay ASAP. These aren’t monthly bills or anything, but they are money that I really owe immediately. An example is some money to pay a storage facility so I can catch up my bill, get my stuff out, and then cancel the account. If I don’t, they are going to sell the stuff that’s in there. I’ve got a couple of other things like that I need to take care of, and taken as a collection would be one of the targets for a snowflake.
I think I’m going to have to let the emergency fund take a back seat for now. I need to get some things taken care of so I can even get to the point of attacking my other debt, which are the more traditional monthly payments. Once I get these big rocks out of my way, I can move to the more traditional snowball baby steps. At that point, I’ll be able to concentrate on getting my emergency fund built up. For now, I’m going to get to concentrate my little snowflakes towards the debts I need to payoff immediately, as well as any other money that I can possibly afford to throw at them.
I’ve also begun attempting to make some extra money outside of my normal 9 to 5. I’ve signed up for some survey sites on the internet. So far, I haven’t earned any money from these survey sites, but I’m building up some points to where I will be able to cash some in. I’ve also started at looking how I can make some money writing custom websites for people. Hopefully, I will be able to bring in some money that way as well.
At least I’ve started and have taken some steps towards my goal. I’ll get there eventually!
