Yoga: will it help me improve?
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Yoga, specifically how it’s good for your core. Since I’ve got a bad back, the thought of that appealed to me. The aspect of meditation appealed to me as well, and I’ve been looking for a good way to counter stress. Also, I heard that Yoga is actually good for the sex life and stamina (I tihnk I read it in Men’s Health Magazine). For these reasons, I wanted to check out doing some Yoga. I went out and bought me a Yoga DVD. The first one I bought was interesting and made the positions of Yoga look challenging and made me want to try them, but it wasn’t a very good instructional DVD. So, last week, I went out and bought another DVD, this time one that specifically says a beginner’s DVD.
I’ve tried watching the dvd, but honestly, I’m having a tough time getting into it. I guess a part of me is actually embarrassed to do it or something, and it still seems to laid back to me. I still think to do something positive myself, I have to work hard and sweat, which might not be true. I just seem to have that ingrained in me, so using the mellow approach for Yoga is hard for me, I guess. I found myself getting very bored watching the DVD, so I wonder if part of that was the DVD. I couldn’t get into what the girl was saying because she wasn’t being very interesting to me. I ended up turning the DVD off, and moving on to something else, and I never got back to the DVD. I still want to give Yoga a try, or maybe Pilates, so I’ll definitely report back when I give it another shot this weekend. But, I think for me to get anything out of it, I would have to go to a place and have an instructor. I’m thinking about doing that just because of all the good things I’ve heard about Yoga.
So, maybe the next entry about yoga will be about my first session with an instructor. Of course, I’ll have to save some money to do that first, because I’m making sure I keep to my steps on my way out of debt and money troubles. I just have to keep steppin!
